Total Quality Photo was founded in 2003 by Steve Solomon, a graduate of New York Institute of Photography. Our mission is to sell SHARP high-quality stock photography for use in product advertising, graphic design, calendars, brochures, websites, printing, and office wall decor. We also offer custom photography.
After attending the Nikon School in the late '70's under superb Nikon School Instructor and Photographer Bill Pekala, and subsequently graduating from NYIP in 1981, Steve then worked for renowned New York commercial photographer Arnold Katz, learning the craft of large format product photography, shooting books for catalogs, developing 4x5 and 8x10 sheet film, and assisting in a high-volume New York City commercial photography studio. Enjoying the creative potential of darkroom techniques, Steve first studied black and white photography in the Seventies and Eighties, corresponding with the late Photography Master Ansel Adams via Kodak black and white postcards. Mr. Adams "exposed" Steve to cold light printing, composition, the Zone System, lens characteristics, various darkroom techniques, as well as critiquing Steve's images, being the consummate teacher and mentor that he was.
Transitioning from film to digital imaging in 2003, Steve's Software Quality Assurance Testing background and desire for "Continuous Quality Improvement", complements his photographic imaging work, hence the company name, "Total Quality Photo".
In addition to his published work, Steve's images have been recognized by his peers at Pixoto.com.
"The negative is the equivalent of the composer's score, and the print the performance." ~Ansel Adams
